Manshiet Nasser is the largest slum in Cairo (estimated to have a population of 16 million) and one of the largest concentrations of poverty in the world.
This quarter at the foot of the mountain Mukattam consists of buildings traditional in marginal areas of Cairo – brick houses with unfinished top floor, and tons of garbage. Bags of garbage stacked in multimeter pyramids along the streets, trash bags pile all the roofs of houses and wheelbarrows on the street. There are shoeless children, adults dig in it.
